Rush Hour: Stop the [HUMAN] Traffic

When: April 15, 2011

Time: 5:30 pm

Where: Nelson Mandela Auditorium, Global FedEx Center, University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill

Description: Join Carolina Against Slavery and Trafficking (CAST) on April 15th for “Rush Hour: Stop the [Human] Traffic”

The lecture will focus on both human trafficking in the United States and domestic sex trafficking and labor trafficking in North Carolina, and their global interconnections.

Two speakers will present: Erin Neff from Courtney’s House [], a NGO based in Washington DC fighting domestic sex trafficking, and Attorney Caitlyn Ryland from the Farmworkers Unit at Legal Aid of North Carolina.

A reception with food and beverages will follow, during which the audience can meet the speakers individually.

CAST hopes the event brings together campus groups, NC anti-trafficking advocates, and community members to listen to two inspirational speakers and to further discuss trafficking in NC and future steps in the fight against this global criminal industry.

Cosponsors include: Institute for the Study of the Americas, Feminist Students United!, the Carolina Women’s Center, the Department of Public Policy,  Project Dinah, STAND and Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority Inc.
