That is why we are sponsoring Drive for Freedom – a golf tournament intended to raise awareness of the issue of human trafficking in our city, as well as $10,000 to protect exploited victims and help eliminate human trafficking.

In addition, there will be a lobbyist from the Christian Action League to discuss how to lobby in NC and to help us begin a comprehensive legislative framework that we will refine through monthly conference calls up until January 2013.

5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk TO STOP HUMAN TRAFFICKING

8:30 am: On-site registration, packet pick up, Fair Trade Market opens

10:00 am: 5K begins

10:30 am: 1 Mile Fun run/walk

11:00 am: Awards announced, refreshments, music

The proceeds of this race will benefit anti-human trafficking efforts in PittCounty and around the world.

COURSES (5K, Run/Walk):

The 5K course is USA Track & Field certified.

The Fun Run / Walk will be approximately 1 mile. (It is noncompetitive and untimed.)

Children’s Clothes & School Supply Collection

We are excited that plans are underway for our next event. We will be holding a Back to School Bash for at-risk families in the Charlotte area. We are in need of new or gently used children’s clothes and school supplies. The event is on Sunday, August 26th so we’d like to have donated items by Tuesday, August 14th. Breaking the Chains – Charlotte Human Trafficking Conference

We are fortunate to have international experts and a local survivor of human trafficking at our upcoming Human Trafficking Conference and need your help inviting North Carolina legislators to this informative event. There are 21 slots still open for legislators and so we will target representatives and senators from these counties: Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Union, Gaston, Lincoln, and Iredell. If you are a resident of one of these counties, please contact your legislators and encourage them to register and attend. The details and a link to the flyer are below.
